Burglar alarm colours: yellow • From eggy orange to ripe urine, yellow is the perfect burglar alarm colour, evoking both sunset and sirens. Yellow boxes attract bold graphics, and cluster at both extremes of the design spectrum: genuinely professional (Yale, Modern); and charmingly naive (most of the rest). The most profuse of all yellow alarms, ADT, combines both approaches – the box is a smart modernist hexagon, while the logo is a strangely naive monogram.
