“Servian” burglar alarm, Kensington and Chelsea • Regular polygons aren’t that common, especially heptagons – the only other similar sounder I’ve featured is here. Hampshire-based Servian’s sterile lozenge logo reminds me of pharmaceuticals packaging, but the name actually recalls ancient Rome’s burglar alarm-appropriate Servian Wall, a massive defensive barrier made from blocks of volcanic rock, which repelled Hannibal amongst others. So strong was it that some of the 2,400-year-old edifice still stands today, with a large chunk next to Rome’s main railway station. There’s even a bit, apparently, in the station’s McDonalds. • Spotted: Pont Street, Kensington and Chelsea, London, SW1, England, 2010 • Politics: In the Conservative constituency of Kensington
Above: ancient Rome, showing the Servian wall in blue, and the later Aurelian wall in red, plus an impressive remnant of the Servian Wall next to Rome’s Termini Station.
I choose a nova 6 as the local spackers did not use it, now the biggest cowboy will nail a monkey sick yellow one on slum housing for £200, another other is on with the deltabell, a 3rd is on with the ventcroft underpants box, unless its very pricey or your product sooner or later it will appear with a wallys label on it…
I’m guessing £200 is the new ‘£99.99’ (or £129 as it was round our way) – but then that didn’t even get you a SAB, just a lid with no base, maplins siren nailed to the wall underneath, ebay/chinese ‘HiTek’ 5 and a half zone all-in-one with PIRs for the hallway (also entry/exit) lounge and back all wired back-to-back whether that means facing the window or not!
I aussme your speaking oF “HG”, there £249 merchants now!
Blimey, George really needs to can this inflation!
CQR Protecta. Like these, wish I still fitted them, never any trouble.
why do you not still fit them?
Don’t know really, started using RISCO kit for a while and switched to the XS3d after these. Just used whatever is on hand more recently. Now I think about it, there’s a few features that make them just average, I’ll wait until every T, D & H starts fitting what I fit now and maybe review them again.
ah, easy to wire up if the panel is the same make as the bell box.
Risco NovaGards are pretty good with Risco panels, I have a NovaGard 6 on my house.
