“Westec”, Southwark: global

“Westec” burglar alarm, Southwark • Today I start a “global” theme, quite popular on burglar alarms. Kicking things off is Westec, an ex-company of Mike Hardesty, one of this blog’s regular and very knowledgeable commenters – you can find his (and other contributors’) musings on Westec here. • Spotted: Pages Walk, Southwark, London, SE1, England, 2010 • Politics: In the Liberal Democrat constituency of Bermondsey and Old Southwark

  1. The artwork for this box is not very good, on the correct logo it has Moroco & Algeria just above the green band with the UK central above the ‘S’, there is too much white Altlantic Ocean in the middle, I think this sounder was made by Gardiner Security, all other boxes have the correct logo.
My son designed the logo in the months leading up to the day we started Westec Security 1st May 1985 when he was 14 years old.
Just like Enright Security the logo has green in it because Eddy Enright is Irish.

    • Sorry for picking the “wrong” version – I’ll have to see if I’ve got a shot of the “correct” one you describe somewhere. Congratulations to your son, anyway – there are still examples of his work around 25 years later!
