Seceurop Group, Southwark: pan-European

Seceurop Group

“Seceurop Group” burglar alarm, Southwark • Nice monogram logo, which suggests a chain. The name suggests some major pan-European security corporation, but this is the only one of these I’ve ever found. • Spotted: Short Street, Southwark, London, SE1, England, 2010 • Politics: In the Liberal Democrat constituency of Bermondsey and Old Southwark

  1. This one is very very interesting. Securop used to be a very big European Company. Not sure if they are still going in the UK or anywhere. Google hasn’t been helpful on this one! Very big into manned guarding even in the UK but never really got into the UK Intruder Alarm Business. They had there own monitoring station is Tollington Park North London (now converted into flats). I went there once, it looked very impressive and futuristic and I only ever came across one company that used the monitoring station, that was Captstan Security, but am sure others must have done. The Control Room was also used for the Manned Guarding and Keyholding, – but that was many moons ago. I would say that I went there over 20 years ago. At one time they had an burglar alarm installation side which traded as ‘Captor’, I think a guy called Eddie Northend ran it, but as I already stated, this never really took off. Have never seen a Securop bell before…well done. Captor bell boxes are very very few and far between. They had a big eye ball as the logo. I cant remember yesterday, but can remember 20 years ago!
