Capstan Security, Barnet, N20, 2011

“Capstan Security” burglar alarm, Barnet • There’s always something rather military-looking about these Capstans, with their naval name and officer’s stripe. This is presumably from before they got taken over by Banham, after which they switched to the proprietary “shield” shape. • Spotted: High Road, Whetstone, Barnet, London, N20, England, 2011 • Politics: In the Conservative constituency of Chipping Barnet

  1. Capstan Security were a fantastic firm. Now acquired by Banhams who continue to use the trading name. This was a S Type Polycarbonate bell box made by a firm called Brigend Plastics who sold products to
ATH Limited – a north London based alarm supplier who ADI Gardiner Security purchased. Capstan operate from Banhams offices in Battersea. When trading independently they has a base in Barnet. Prior to Barnet they were in Squires Lane Finchley. The number shown on this bell box was the Finchley Number. The ex owner and management of Capstan have now re invented themselves as IP Fire and Security.
