Group Sonitrol Security Systems, Southwark, 2011

“Group Sonitrol Security Systems” burglar alarm, Southwark • Thanks to  recent comment by Dan here , I now know that the name Sonitrol comes from the words sound and control. To quote Dan: “It was a US company that started in pest control. To detect rodents they would put microphones in the cavities of walls in properties. They came up with the idea of combining microphones in an intruder alarm to verify whether or not there was an intruder on site as the monitoring station could listen to live audio on site.” Fascinating! • Spotted: Southwark Street, Southwark, London, SE1, England, 2011 • Politics: In the Liberal Democrat constituency of Bermondsey and Old Southwark
